Education and Background
Birth & Postpartum Doula, 2018
Trained by Sierra Childbirth Institute and Los Angeles Doula, I received my certificate as both a Birth and Postpartum Doula. During this training I solidified my skills of holistic care for woman and families as well as reaffirmed my calling to be a birth professional. During my training I saw endless possibilities to give families a wonderful pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience where they are informed, empowered, and supported.
California State University, Fresno, May 2019
I hold a degree will be in Cultural Anthropology from California State University, Fresno where I studied human societies and behavior both past and present. Throughout my time at Fresno State I have be involved with many organizations as well as working on projects like Fresno Foodways where we took a look at immigrant, migrant, and diasporic communicates and put the spot light on their presence in Fresno through food. I am also inspired to help preserve traditional birth practices and traditions around the world. Being an Anthropology student has opened my eyes to the various needs, and disparities here in the Central Valley such maternal wellness, but also shown me the ways in which communities are resilient against such disparities.
The NAFSA Project School, March 2019
CERTIFIED TRADITIONAL MOROCCAN POSTPARTUM BIRTH PROFESSIONAL
This is a training in which I learned traditional Moroccan birth rituals from Quablas (traditional birthworkers). This course was all about reclaiming traditional postpartum practices in order to fulfill the needs of the new mother. Often time western postpartum practices leave a void in the care of women, leaving them unprepared and relatively alone in their journey in to motherhood. Reclaiming the postpartum time is ultimately an experience that is beneficial to all women becoming a mother even if this isn't her first birth. This training stresses the importance of personalized care for each family.
